An auto insurance policy is, no doubt, a burden to most. Some folks insist on being without it. But is this a wise path to take? This article will help you make more informed choices…

1. For those who have chosen lifestyles that mean they’ll never drive a car, this might work. However, it does happen sometimes that things happen and you suddenly wish you could drive your own car. Does it really make sense to put yourself in such a situation?

2. Some folks insist on driving without an auto insurance policy even though they know it’s against the law. When they get caught, this could have dire consequences on their lives afterwards.

At best, the penalties for non-compliance with insurance laws are a substantial fine, license and/or registration suspension or revocation. But it can get worse: A jail term.

3. Even if the law didn’t make an auto insurance policy mandatory, imagine would be your lot if your car is hit by another uninsured motorist. Consider also what would happen if you car is stolen, damaged or totaled. With the right amount of coverage, you’ll have little to worry about.

1. Get the minimum required by your state especially if yours is an old car. Although this might NOT give you the best coverage, it will, at least, keep you on the right side of the law.

Don’t take this step if yours is a new car. You need to ensure your policy will replace your new car if it’s stolen or totaled. However, you can reduce the liability of your auto insurance policy to the minimum required by law in the state.

But to ensure you don’t have issues with liability claims, get an umbrella policy. Per premium dollar spent, you’ll get far more extensive liability coverage with this policy.

2. Finally, take some time out to do thorough comparison shopping. This way you’ll get auto insurance coverage for a lot less…

Repeat this simple process with five or more reputable quotes sites and you’ll definitely find an offer that will be very mild on your pocket while giving you considerable coverage.
